Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility, and Disclosure Act

On Friday, May 22nd, the government passed sweeping reforms of the credit card industry.  The bill, commonly called "CARD," is designed to clamp down on the ways in which credit card companies can charge consumers, bump up rates, and how they must disclose terms.

Rapid Rescore Not Accepted By Most Lenders

A Rapid Rescore is a product offered by credit reporting companies that enables someone to make quick changes to their credit report and then generate a new credit score based on the changes.  A great idea, yes, but the problem is that in today's market of tight credit, most lenders will not consider a fico score generated by a Rapid Rescore model.

FHA Reform Could Help Millions

There has been increasing discussion in congress and the white house about modernizing the FHA mortgage program in an effort to help millions of home owners avoid foreclosure and get into a stable, government-backed mortgage.

FHA has been around for decades, and is known for helping people with spotty credit records get into a home with a stable, 30 year fixed mortgage.  Although FHA does have looser underwriting guidelines than many programs, there ...
